CLEAN-UP CAMPAIGN (AES SOYO)
Apr 28, 2026
By AES Administration
On September 16th, 2024, as part of its social responsibility initiatives, AES - Angola Environmental Serviços participated in a beach clean-up campaign located near the Angola LNG facilities, in Soyo, Angola.
A total of 7 volunteers from AES - Angola Environmental Serviços took part, within a group of approximately 30 people from various organisations operating in Soyo. Several materials were distributed, such as gloves, bags and pickers, enabling the collection of waste — mainly plastics — spread along approximately 1 km of shoreline. Several dozen kilograms of waste were collected and subsequently sent to a duly licensed final disposal facility.
The cleaned area is a nesting site for sea turtles, whose egg-laying process is closely monitored by the Kitabanga Project team, ensuring enhanced protection against people and animals (such as birds and dogs) that may attempt to destroy the nests and eggs.
On the same day this clean-up activity took place, the global World Cleanup Day campaign was held, involving more than 19 million participants across 195 countries and territories.
Given the success of this initiative, we remain available and motivated to participate in future actions of this nature, continuing to contribute to a cleaner world.
